Alaini Wallen, DO
Alaini Wallen, DO, graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a Bachelor’s in Biology with a Health Science Emphasis. She received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Iowa. Growing up, she loved math and science and becoming a physician was a way to integrate her two passions while giving back to rural communities like McCook, Nebraska, her hometown.
Dr. Wallen chose to specialize in Family Medicine because it provides the unique privilege of caring for patients throughout their entire lifetime. The scope of practice is ideal for working in rural communities which is where she wants to someday practice.
When deciding where to do her residency, Dr. Wallen found that Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program offers the full scope of training and procedures she was looking for, along with a welcoming environment where she would be able to develop into the type of physician she wants to be.
Giving advice to her patients comes down to telling them this: You are in charge of your own health. Physicians are here to guide and advise, but at the end of the day what happens is up to you! It's important to ask questions so you fully understand what decisions best fit your health goals.
Dr. Wallen is married to her high school sweetheart, Travis, and they are parents to their Goldendoodle Barkley. She enjoys spending time outside going on walks or to farmers markets. She has a growing houseplant collection, and loves playing cards or board games with friends.
